"O Reino do Disparate” is a children's book published by Alfarroba Publishing, and I had the pleasure of illustrating the entire project. I was responsible for all the illustrations in this book, which was launched at the Lisbon Book Fair (Portugal).
"Reino do Disparate" is a place where everything is unusual and anything is possible: houses with quirky shapes, and characters who experience poetic and unexpected situations.
The text is rich in metaphors and playfulness, which required a careful visual interpretation, balancing symbolic meaning with creative freedom. The author’s intention was to build a world that feels different and enchanting, one that sparks the imagination of children.
The illustrations reflect this spirit through distorted shapes, upside-down scenes, surprising elements, and a vibrant color palette that invites children to explore every detail.
The project was developed in close collaboration with the publisher, from storyboard to final artwork, with ongoing dialogue to ensure the visuals stayed true to the author’s vision.
